10 books

ffe219703e1b9877a29dfc7db361234bThere are times when I see a book or hear a title and it sounds familiar, I think I may have read it but I don’t remember for sure.  (That kinda just happens when you’ve read hundreds of books.)  Then there are times when I read a book and almost every detail sticks with me.  It makes such an impression on my mind and I remember it for a very long time.

This was a facebook tag that I was tagged in recently.  It says to list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t think about it too hard, just put down ten books that have somehow become part of you.

These are not necessarily my top 10 favorites.  Some of these I’ve read more than once, and some I read years ago and still think about them from time to time.

1. the Bible
2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
3. Shepherd of the Hills by Harold Bell Wright
4. Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
5. Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
6. Voyage on the Great Titanic (Dear America)
7. Twilight of Courage by Brock & Bodie Thoene
8. Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer
9. Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
10. Shakespeare’s Sonets

So what are your 10?

  1. Before I even read your list, I had started making up my own… Then I realized that we chose a few of the same ones. I guess that shouldn’t surprise me, huh? 😉
Like you, these aren’t necessarily my favorite books. I do really love some of them, though.

    1. The Bible
    2. Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
    3. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
    4. The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom
    5. This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti
    6. Piercing the Darkness by Frank Peretti
    7. Voyage on the Great Titanic by Ellen Emerson White (never could decide if I loved this book or hated it…)
    8. The Refiner’s Fire series by Lynn Austin (Yeah, I’m gonna list all 3 as one. Is that okay?)
    9. My Heart is on the Ground (Dear America) by Ann Rinaldi
    10. The American Adventure books (quite a few books really, but I always thought of it as each book just being a new chapter in one long story)

  2. […] is in response to a post on my sister’s blog You think that, if it gives you […]

  3. Thanks! I didn’t expect the Titanic one to be on both our lists. Maybe because I think we read it about the same time and I figured it just impacted me stronger, being 10 years older than you.

  4. I did read the Titanic one again a few years later, though…
It was interesting reading your list of 10. Most of the books on there didn’t surprise me a bit, but some of them I really didn’t expect. Probably because I didn’t really remember you reading them since I was pretty young when you did.
