“Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
A few years ago, I made a life-changing and heart-breaking decision. When I made this choice, I had the most amazing peace in my heart that I was doing what God wanted me to do. But within hours of taking the first step, I began to doubt whether I did the right thing. There were many who supported me and many who did not. Not long after, I happened across this quote and it was incredibly uplifting to me! It also reminded me of something else I heard and had forgotten: “Never undo in doubt what you did in faith.” These together have been a great reminder to me that no matter what I choose, there will always be opposition. No matter what I choose, there will be difficulties. I cannot let those difficulties – the heartache, the opposition… anything – sway my faith and tempt me to believe I made the wrong choice.
